Bloomingdale’s Commissions Couture Crayola Dresses

Bloomingdale’s teamed up with Crayola and a handful of selected designers to create one of a kind pieces strictly out of crayons. Each life-sized piece is inspired by a classic color from the crayon brand we love. The outfits are on display at Bloomingdale’s in New York City for their ‘100% Bloomingdale’s’, a collection exclusively for the retailer.

The designers were thrilled at the challenge and felt extremely inspired. «My team spent weeks perfectly crafting our dress,» Nanette Lepore, designer of the «Unmellow Yellow» dress, told TODAY.com. «Forget LEGO Oscars, I’m all about crayon dresses!»

The ready-to-wear fabric versions of the outfits will be available in select Bloomingdale’s stores soon.

Mallis went on The Today Show on Thursday and discussed the possibility of interviewing Kanye West on her Fashion Icon series at 92nd Street Y. Kanye has yet to respond to this call to arms, but if he does do the interview, we can expect a great show. Knowing Kanye West’s tendencies, he is unlikely to select flight in a fight or flight situation.

Lupita Nyong’o’s $150K Dress a Fake?

Featured Video

Lupita Nyong’o’s dress was stolen out of her West Hollywood hotel room on February 26. The dress is estimated to be worth $150k and is made from 6,000 natural white pearls. The Los Angeles Police Department have recovered what they believe to be the dress, but in a statement made to the press, Nicole Nishida, LAPD spokeswoman, said, “We do have possession of a dress that greatly reassembles the dress that was stolen but I don’t think at this time we can 100 percent say it’s that dress, but it greatly resembles it.”

The dress was last seen on Thursday night, and officials have said that the Calvin Klein dress could be worth well over $150k on the black market. The dress in question was later found in a bathroom at the London Hotel.

«There are a lot of collectors out there who are very private and have private collections of stolen merchandise,» said style expert and fashion commentator Mary Alice Stephenson. «Some of these dresses have global fame as big as any Van Gogh.»

The dress is being analyzed and the results of whether the dress is legitimate or not will be released in the next few days.

Tokyo Takes Over New York Fashion Week

While New York Fashion Week is known to favorite American designers, this year Tokyo took over the catwalk at the Tokyo Runway Meets New York fashion show. The group show was held on February 19 at the Salon at the Lincoln Center.

The show was put on by Tokyo Runway, and was organized in conjunction with the Japan Ministry of Economy in an effort to bring international exposure and business to the Japanese fashion industry. Shinji Hirato, who produced the show, said, “Choosing to show at New York Fashion Week rather than other fashion capitals was a natural choice as New York City is celebrated for its diversity and a kindred spirit with Tokyo’s energy, eclectic tastes, and excitement.”

The runway showcased the best of the most contemporary and cutting edge young designers of Tokyo. Brands included Fig&Viper––headed by international model and DJ Alisa Ueno––and the up and coming brand AULA.

Tokyo has long been fetishized for its ‘kawaii’ and Harajuku fashion. The Tokyo Runway Meets New York show was the first big step in proving that Tokyo is a serious fashion contender.

The rumors were put to rest after Jennifer climbed out of her trailer and made a rare appearance on Facebook, saying:

A representative at Fox 2000 explained that it was Russell preparing Lawrence for a heated scene in the film. «David’s process is, when they yell rolling, he will repeat the line in the tone he wants,” said the rep.

The pseudo-fight has generated a lot of positive hype behind the film which is set for release on Christmas of this year.

Kanye West X Adidas Model Dishes on Kanye’s Collection

Featured Video

We’ve heard what the critics have had to say about Kanye West’s New York Fashion Week collection, and we’ve heard what Kanye has had to say about Kanye’s collection––but what about Kanye’s models?

Devan Mayfield is answering our question, and has revealed to Business Insider what it was like to take part in Kanye’s historical fashion week show. Devan says that she was cast for the show at the last minute, saying, “It felt like a dream to be working with fellow artists, creators, and revolutionaries. I was very inspired and carry the energy from those moments with me today.”

Devan also said that Kanye oversaw every last detail––the rapper-turned-designer was present at her casting and all of the fittings. Devan told Business Insider, “When I arrived for hair and makeup on the day of the show, he was already there. Kanye was very involved.”

As for the clothes, Devan says that she loved them despite what any fashion critics had to say. Many criticized Kanye’s collection for being too boring, including Kelly Cutrone––owner of People’s Revolution, one of the biggest fashion PR firms in the industry––and Fern Mallis, the creator of New York Fashion Week. Devan disagrees, however, and says that she felt ‘empowered’ in Kanye’s clothing.

Kelly Osbourne Calls it Quits with Fashion Police

The Fashion Police drama continues. Earlier this week, Giuliana Rancic made an ignorant joke about Zendaya’s dreadlocks and the joke has since then become the source of much criticism and controversy. Giuliana said that Zendaya’s hair looked like it smelled of weed, and Zendaya retaliated by calling her jokes ‘ignorant slurs’.

In the continued back and forth Giuliana promptly issued a public apology, Zendaya accepted, and then Giuliana blamed the writers of Fashion Police for the joke. Kelly Osbourne, who is also a host on Fashion Police, added to the drama by threatening to leave if the situation wasn’t resolved––and now, news has just broken that Kelly will in fact be leaving the show.

E! network, who produces Fashion Police, commented, “Kelly Osbourne is departing E!’s Fashion Police to pursue other opportunities. We would like to thank her for her many contributions to the series over the past five years, during which time the show became a hit with viewers,” according to People.

Despite Kelly also accepting Guiliana’s apology via Twitter, it appears that the drama was just too much for her. Despite Kelly’s departure, E! has confirmed that the show will continue to air as usual and will return on Friday, March 30.

Lupita Nyong’o’s Dress Completely ‘Worthless’ According to Thief

Lupita Nyong’o’s custom made Calvin Klein gown was stolen from her hotel room on Thursday, and new reports have surfaced that the dress has been returned. The dress is estimated to be $150K and is adorned with 6000 natural white pearls. The actress was last seen wearing this dress on the red carpet at the 87th Academy Awards.

Two days later, an informant claiming to be the thief tipped off TMZ on the location of the dress. The thief claims to have stolen the dress after noticing that Lupita’s door was ajar. The alleged thief then returned the dress and tipped off TMZ, but not before he could shed some light on the true value of the dress. Watch the video below:

The thief told TMZ that he took two pearls from the dress and had them tested in the garment district. According to the thief, the pearls were fake and Lupita’s $150K gown is actually worthless. So why did the thief steal Lupita’s dress? He wanted to expose, “Hollywood’s fake bulls**t.”
