Happy Birthday, Betty White!

Is there anybody who fits the word “icon” better than Betty White? The Golden Girl, and People’s Choice Awardee for TV Icon, just turned 93 on January 17th. To celebrate, her colleagues from Hot in Cleveland organized a sweet birthday surprise. The Hot in Cleveland cast and crew gave Ms. White some fun in the sun with a Hawaiian-themed flash mob–complete with leis, Hawaiian shirts, and hula-dancing.

The Definitive Guide to Staying Healthy Without the Gym

Having a desk job in a climate-controlled office has its advantages, especially in the winter. However, it also has one very serious disadvantage: inactivity. After all, who has time to think about fitness when there are deadlines to meet? Fortunately, you can fit your health and fitness regimen right into your work schedule with these easy steps.

Eating A Healthy Breakfast

I’m not a morning person, so I frequently have trouble dragging myself out of bed to go to work. This means breakfast is usually a piece of toast, a lot of coffee, and definitely not healthy. A balanced breakfast is an absolute must to keep your energy levels high. Watch the video below for quick and easy breakfast ideas.

Relieve Stress through Yoga

Until recently, I thought yoga was for people who had a lot of time and money. For this reason, I always dismissed the idea of taking yoga classes. However, sitting at my desk all day inevitably leads to tension around my neck, shoulders, and back. Since I can only fit yoga into my schedule for a few short minutes a day, the desk yoga routine featured in this video is perfect.

Keep Active After Work

After a long day at work, all we really want to do is get a good night’s sleep. However, keeping ourselves active in the evening is a must if we want to maintain our energy. For those who prefer light outdoor activity, you can jog or walk for 15 minutes after dinner. For those who want to stay indoors, try this short yoga routine.

If you’re not into yoga try walking to work, jogging up the stairs, and sneaking in a few lunges during your coffee break. With these simple steps, you can be healthy and ready to rock those crop tops and sheer dresses in spring.

Emporio Armani and Boo George Unveil Spring/Summer 2015 Campaign

Emporio Armani and Boo George’s SS 2015 campaign is hitting publications this month. The collection showcases stripes, whites, and blues on six models shot on the beaches of Santa Barbara, California. Undeniably similar to the Emporio Armani AW 2014 collection, Boo shot on the beaches of Dollymount Strand, Ireland. The three guys, Matt Trethe, Andy Walters, and Jakub Zelman, were joined by three girls, Vittoria Ceretti, Julia Banas, Antonina Petkovic. All were draped in the graphic prints, watches, and eyewear of the Spring/Summer collection.

Irish-born photographer Boo George has also recently shot work for Spanish fashion giant Zara and Los Angeles brand Jolie.

Man’s Best Friend

The man bag is in vogue, but it’s a dangerous tightrope between looking like you are carrying a stolen woman’s purse and being fashionable. Here’s how to discern the difference.

Gucci’s take on the man bag.

There is a big difference between a man bag, a gym bag, and a briefcase. They all have their own distinct purpose. The man bag is for the city boy who needs to carry a novel, headphones, or an iPad for down time on the train.

Choose a fabric that suits you. Leather isn’t for everyone and certainly doesn’t go with a short sleeve button down and shorts. Canvas is a good alternative for these situations. Try not to get a bag with a print because it might clash with your outfits. This is a no brainer for women, but for men that are new to the bag game, it’s integral to choose a neutral color: dark green, black, brown, or gray.

Don’t be ashamed of your bag and learn how to hold it like a man. The way you hold the bag is nearly as important as the bag itself. Hold it wrong and you’ll look like you’re holding your girlfriend’s purse.

H&M To Launch Coachella Inspired Collection

Swedish brand H&M and the coveted California music festival have collaborated on their first ever co-branded fashion collection for Coachella 2015.

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is set to take place over two successive weekends: April 10-12, then 17-19. Now, the brand has designed a line especially for the Californian desert bonanza.

The women’s pieces will include a festival-friendly selection of printed tops, playsuits, crop tops, shorts and boho wide-legged trousers, while the men’s range is made up of graphic t-shirts and shorts, with prices for the clothes ranging from £2.99 to £29.99.

Sophia Amoruso is No Longer the #GIRLBOSS

Following the release of her bestselling book #GIRLBOSS, the fashion world was shocked to find out that Sophia Amoruso is, in fact, no longer the #GIRLBOSS of Nasty Gal. Amoruso announced earlier this week that she will stepping down as the CEO.

Nasty Gal was first started by Amoruso in 2006 as an eBay retail store. Despite its modest beginnings, however, Nasty Gal was named the “Fastest Growing Retailer” by INC Magazine in 2012 and has since then become a multimillion dollar company. Following the release of #GIRLBOSS in May of last year, Amoruso also opened Nasty Gal’s first flagship store in Los Angeles in November.

In light of Nasty Gal’s successful year, it comes as a surprise that Amoruso is stepping down from her position as CEO. Her departure is without scandal however, and is instead a part of her plan to help Nasty Gal grow. Amoruso told Re/code, “While I find myself really capable of leading our customer […] the company need[s] a CEO with operational expertise and the ability to take Nasty Gal to the next level of maturity.”

Amoruso is promoting Sheree Waterson as her replacement, who was hired by Amoruso in late 2013-early 2014 to help expand Nasty Gal’s business. Waterson has previously worked for brands like Levi’s and Lululemon, and said about her new position “I actually see myself as support to Sophia so we can unleash her genius […] Taking over the operation of the company allows Sophia to be out and connecting the brand with our customer and all the other amazing people she meets.”

Despite her change in title, Amoruso will remain on the board of the company and stay on as an executive chairman to oversee the creative and marketing departments. As the face and creative genius behind Nasty Gal, Amoruso will always be the #GIRLBOSS in our eyes.

Watch the video below to see Sophia Amoruso explain her decision and read the full story here.
