Lupita Nyong’o’s pearl dress fiasco has finally ended when Calvin Klein, the designer of the dress in question, decided not to press charges after the dress was recovered in a black garment bag...under a trash bag, under a counter, in the hotel it was stolen from.

The dress was taken two days after it’s Academy Awards red carpet debut on the shoulders of Nyong’o. The dress was nabbed from her room at The London Hotel in West Hollywood between 8 and 9pm. The dress was appraised at $150,000 and adorned with 6,000 natural white pearls. No reason was stated as to why Calvin Klein decided to drop charges and Lupita Nyong’o has stayed quiet during the entire debacle.

A Los Angeles sheriff's department spokesperson said there were no suspects identified at the time the case was dropped.

According to TMZ, the dress’ thief told the site he had taken two of the pearls off the dress to Los Angeles’ garment district where they were appraised as worthless fakes. In the same hotel room as the dress that night was Nyong’o’s Oscars gift bag which was valued at $125,000. Fortunately for Nyong’o, the thief chose wrong.
