Kim Kardashian Bares Ass-ets for Love

Featured Video

The buzz about Kim Kardashian’s Paper Magazine cover has barely died down and the reality star is at it again. This time, Kardashian completely bares her bottom for Love Magazine. Although she appears fully clothed on the cover––in head-to-toe Prada, no less––a photo of Kardashian’s newsworthy behind will also make an appearance in the magazine. Shot by Steven Klein and styled by Love’s editor in chief, Katie Grand, the photo was leaked via Twitter. As expected, it made all the headlines––even more so than Love’s Kardashian-Delevingne cover.

With Kim Kardashian’s behind completely in focus, fans might miss the fact that she actually sacrificed her eyebrows for the edgy fashion shoot. The brow-less Kardashian looks like a model fit for the fashion halls of Paris. Could she be vying for the “Next Kardashian Supermodel” title?

Love Magazine’s Kim Kardashian issue will also feature her tete-a-tete with model Cara Delevingne, in which Cara hopefully finds out about Kim’s future plans to “break the internet.” I’m sure fans can’t wait to hear about Kim’s favorite selfie outfit, but they will have to wait until the issue comes out in spring. Until then, we’ll have to make do with watching Kim’s instagram for our weekly dose of controversy.

#DIESELHIGH Puts ‘Fun’ Back in Fashion

From America’s Next Top Model to Desigual’s September catalogue, Chantelle Brown-Young is now the star of Diesel’s latest Spring/Summer 2015 campaign. Alongside Brown-Young is Charlotte Free and Gryphon O’Shea, all photographed by Nick Knight. The spread shows smiles, bright colors and models being playful.

Last year Diesel was determined to have a fresh start, focusing on using a diverse range of models––including Jillian Mercado–– and utilizing the hashtag #DieselReboot. This year the creative director at Diesel, Nicola Formichetti, told Style.com, «I told [Nick Knight] I just wanted to see people smiling and having fun.» This year the tagline is #DieselHigh and according to Formichetti the photos are all re-touch free. “Of course we played with the background color and the clothes a bit, but no one’s head was chopped off and replaced with another. We wanted it to be pretty raw. I find imperfection really beautiful.»

Did Kris Jenner “Freak Out” Over Bruce Jenner’s Transition?

Featured Video

Bruce Jenner shocked fans at the end of January when he revealed that he has begun transitioning to a woman. Because of this decision, rumor has it that Kris Jenner apparently “freaked out” about it. However, this has now been proven false. Bruce Jenner’s transition is accepted and supported by his family, including by his ex-wife. Before Bruce confirmed his new lifestyle, his slowly changing appearance has been the subject of many speculations. Now that he has revealed himself to his family, Bruce can live openly and happily as a woman.

«I think everyone goes through things in life, and I think that story and what Bruce is going through, I think he’ll share whenever the time is right,» she said at the time,” says stepdaughter Kim Kardashian in an interview.

Bruce Jenner is planning to document his transition and sharing it with the public this year in a TV documentary. While most people share their life-changing experiences with close friends and family, Bruce turns to television. In true Kardashian-Jenner spirit, the whole world will share such a sensitive experience with the family. On a positive note, he may be able to reach out and affect other people troubled by the same issues. All that’s left for fans to do is “keep up with Bruce” as he begins his new life with his family.

Fashion Police! A Traveler’s Guide to Fashion Don’ts

There are always going to be those styles that we’ll look back on in five or ten years and think, ‘What the hell was I wearing?’––and the backpacker look is one of them. With spring and backpacking season closing in on us, here are five fashion–backward backpacker trends to stay away from. The entire backpacker look is comprised of the worst fashion trends to date. Vagabond is not a positive term.

1. The Man Bun

Women do top knots and buns because they are too lazy to fix their hair. Men do top knots and buns because they can’t afford a haircut. This trend has brought hippy to its lowest depths. If you want to look like a dirty backpacker that can’t afford his next cigarette, this is the look for you!

2. Pajama Pants from Thailand

These pants make you look like you just rolled out of bed, in a bad way. They look comfortable in the least fashionable way possible and have that awful elephant print all over them. I believe these pants are worn to make the individual look like they know a lot about meditation and yoga, but in reality they make the person look like every other culture appropriating ‘burn-out’.

3. T-Shirts with Foreign Beer Logos

These shirts are for humble bragging about travels abroad, and bring no substance to a person. If you thought these shirts set you apart, you’re wrong. We all love beer. Try something more savvy or intellectual if you are going to wear a printed tee.

4. Sandals with Pants

So it’s hot, but only on your feet? Being comfortable isn’t always the best choice and sandals will only expose your feet to the elements of sunburn and grime off the dirty city streets. The sandal-pants combo has been a long time no-no, but its still gaining traction in some circles. The reason this is a fashion don’t? It makes you look like you don’t know what weather to dress for.

5. Oversized Backpack in a City

An oversized backpack is the telltale sign that a person wearing one of these in a city doesn’t know what they are doing. If you are in a city, there are paved roads to wheel your luggage around on. If you are staying in a hostel or a hotel, you don’t need a backpack. Backpacks are entirely essential when trekking through a forest or climbing a mountain, but you can’t fool anyone walking around the streets of Bali with one of these strapped to you. Not only do they look stupid, but they are the central source of complaints from backpackers.

Travel in style this spring and avoid these fashion don’ts. Remember, no one wants to make friends with someone who looks like they haven’t showered.

Fendi Menswear Gives New Life to Grandfather’s Corduroys and Natural Tones

Fashion One talks to Silvia Venturini Fendi the head of menswear and accessories and takes a look at the FENDI autumn/winter 2015 menswear collection.

The collection featured a playful mixture and manipulation of tactile textiles brought together with sophisticated schoolboy styling and preppy city cool with a hint of grandfatherly influence. Taking inspiration from corduroy, some pieces saw pin stripes cut into and printed onto fabrics like leather, fur and shilling, in both horizontal and vertical stripes. These patterns were echoed in some bold block knit sweaters and scarves and the paneled garments.

There was a grown up organic color palette with lots of earthy tans and browns with cold stone grays, but these were given a warm feeling from the rich accent pieces in retro college colors like mustard, maroon and navy blue.

Silvia Venturini Fendi tells how she reinterpreted corduroy and explains her use of props on the catwalk each season, this time giving each model a football to carry in his holdall bag, or a shilling apple charm, perfect as a reminder to “take a break” from busy modern life. The lighthearted touch of the accessories and a few ironic pieces made for a charming showcase of a collection suited for men who want to hold on to some of the freedom of school days youth whilst keeping a cool, smart and luxury look.

Ji Wenbo Strengthens the Cultural Bridge at the France-China Fashion Summit

Fashion One visited the French and Chinese Collaboration Fashion Summit in Paris. Featuring the work of China’s “King of Fashion” Ji Wenbo, the event was held at the prestigious Hôtel d’Evreux.

The executive vice president of the China National Garment Association, Chen Dapeng, was very pleased with the success of the conference and the 50 year relationship between France and China. The meeting allows the two countries to communicate, exchange ideas and talk about their history leading to even stronger co-operation in the future.

Ji Wenbo is a very famous designer in China, well known for taking his inspiration from Chinese culture and his use of Chinese fabrics with delicate details. We take a backstage look at the models going through rehearsal and hair and makeup before the show. Ji Wenbo’s collection of shiny metallics on bold fabrics, striking printed suits and strong structured dresses look particularly stunning in the decor of the beautiful historic French venue.

We talk to the designer himself who has been working in fashion for more than 30 years about his work overseas, representing Chinese culture and building a cultural bridge between France and China. Didier Grumbach the chairman of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture tells us the history of the forum and takes pride in the friendly and warm relationship the two countries have formed over the years.

Diesel Black Gold Perfects a London Inspired Punk Rock Look

The DIESEL BLACK GOLD men’s autumn/winter 2015 collection was shown at Milan Fashion Week.

Designer and creative director Andreas Melbostad talks about the London inspired collection following on from the opening of the first Diesel Black Gold store in the UK capital last year and reminisces about his own memories of the city when he was younger. His concept was to play with different, classic London inspired fashion themes by combining traditional men’s tailored jackets and tweed fabrics with iconic punk and rock subculture aesthetics.

The show included numerous outerwear options such as mid length tailored coats, studded leather biker jackets and embellished bomber jackets. These were worn over combinations of dark tweed blazers and sweaters with distressed and altered denim jeans and pants in a very wearable street read style. The designer also spoke to us about masculine customization and explained the recreated D.I.Y elements of the collection.

One of the focal points of the collection was the sheer variety of embellishments on the garments from ripped and cut denim and tweed to added zips and patches and essential punk studs, safety pins and chains. The sometimes neat and preppy tailoring was given extra dashes of cool with these customized elements and the dark palette further channelling the rebellious punk spirit.

Festive macarons are a favorite on Valentine’s Day.

Boissier is a chocolatier based in France, and was named one of the fifty best chocolate companies in the world by The Fifty Best. We recommend the Boissier chocolate petals, a tried and true favorite.

2 Bottega Louie Macarons

Bottega Louie has been established as one of the most fashionable confectioneries in the LA area, and their reputation is well-deserved. Their macaron selection boasts classic flavors like strawberry and vanilla, while also having an impressive selection of more creative flavors like Grand Cru, violet cassis, and pistachio. Can’t decide on a flavor? Don’t worry, Bottega Louie makes it easy with a ready-packed assortment for Valentine’s Day.

3 Heart Shaped Spatula

This gift idea isn’t exactly edible, but it will certainly have the foodies in your life swooning over how cute it is. Now, your favorite cook can make everything with love. This heat resistant spatula has a 4.5 star review, and can be purchased on Amazon.

4 Rosé Champagne

Just because a bottle of rosé has certain bourgeois connotations, doesn’t mean that it needs to cost you a fortune. According to Serious Eats, Chateau du Rouët 2013 Reservée Tradition Rosé is the best of its kind under $20. Mas Carlot 2013 Cuvée Tradition Rosé is the runner up, and at just $14 a bottle for both, I say pour it up!

5 Edible Underwear

For the cheeky, mischievous, or those that are just looking for a gag gift, edible underwear is the obvious choice. Spencer’s has an unsurprisingly large selection ranging from candied bras, gummy undies, and even pasties. Gift and use with caution.

Front Row to Backstage: HKFW Extravaganza Fashion Show

Featured Video

My excitement for Hong Kong Fashion Week was at an all time high when I got informed that Ground Zero will be here to walk the Extravaganza Fashion Show––the major show that kick-starts Hong Kong Fashion Week every year. Together with Loris Diran from New York, Wang Yutao from Beijing, and Lars Wallin from Sweden, the four world-renowned fashion labels brought us a spectacular show. The M.A.C Cosmetics team in Hong Kong was the sponsor for all makeup units during HKFW, and I’ve had the honor of being one of the lucky few allowed backstage before the show starts. This has never happened before in Hong Kong Fashion Week history, and I was so grateful to be part of this exclusivity. Click the gallery above for exclusive photos from the front rows and backstages of Hong Kong Fashion Week.

Ground Zero intersects pop art and contemporary street fashion.

Interview with Sotheby’s: Street Art Becomes Fine Art

The Sotheby’s Boundless sale of contemporary art on January 20, 2015 represented an extraordinary achievement for street art and its latest champion, Invader, the French mosaic street artist. In the artist’s Sotheby’s debut, the sale of Alias HK_58, a replica of the artist’s original street work destroyed in Hong Kong, had a winning bid of US$206k. To put this in perspective, no other currently at-work urban artist besides Banksy has ever commanded a hammer price above US$200k at auction, and Invader’s former highest bid recorded at auction was US$27.5k in 2008.

When asked about this impressive sale, Sotheby’s director for Southeast Asia said, “The sale performed extremely well and the overall result was above expectations as it was above the high estimate. We had a very good attendance to the exhibition and to the saleroom and were very pleased to welcome new buyers at Sotheby’s.”

In addition to Invader, the auction also sold pieces by Tracey Emin, Takashi Murakami, and Pablo Picasso. The auction also featured pieces of 20th century furniture by designers like Charlotte Perriand and Charles and Ray Eames.
