The Walking Dead Mid-Season 5 Trailer with Sex, Violence, and Fashion on the Horizon

February 8th kicks off the latest season of The Walking Dead on AMC. Heartthrob Norman Reedus, AKA Daryl Dixon, is still alive and kicking ass from the teaser trailer released yesterday. Along with Norman, Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira show off more post-apocalyptic fashion with fitted, grungy, rock and roll looks.

The cast of The Walking Dead on set.

Robert Kirkman, comic book series creator, said, “There are a great many number of possibilities for that storyline and who those characters are and what they’re doing, and that [they are cannibals] is certainly one of them. It’s not completely out of the realm of possibility, but I can neither confirm nor deny anything at this time. Who the people of Terminus are and what their deal is will be dealt with fairly quickly when we come back for Season 5.”

Check out the red carpet from the season 5 premiere and the trailer for the new season below.

The eight episode conclusion to season 5 is looking like a juicy one.

Galliano to Return to London & Givenchy’s Surprising New Face

Galliano Maison Martin Margiela
John Galliano will show his first couture collection for Maison Martin Margiela in London, on January 12 during London Collections: Men. It will be the designer’s first fashion show in four years since a highly publicized altercation in a Paris cafe which resulted in him leaving Dior and his eponymous brand in 2011. Speaking about the decision to show in London, John Galliano discussed how his formative fashion years were spent in the city and the respect he has for the city’s tailoring history and design heritage. The show will also appear in Paris during Couture Fashion Week January 25 and 30.

Julia Roberts for Givenchy
Iconic American actress Julia Roberts has been unveiled as the new face of French luxury house Givenchy’s spring/summer 2015 campaign. The actress is depicted stone faced with no makeup in an oversized mannish cut blazer. Subverting Julia Roberts’ wholesome Pretty Woman-era image was part of the plan for the designer Riccardo Tisci, who reported he told the actress ‘Because your smile is so beautiful and everybody knows you for that, I think it should be no smile.’

Prada’s Nine Month Profit Decline
Italian luxury group Prada Holdings has revealed a nine month profit decline. dropping by 27.6 percent to 319.3 million euros with sales at the group dipping 0.9 percent to 2.55 billion euros in the nine months to the end of October. Prada blames the slump on challenging market conditions, including unfavorable exchange rate trends and enduring geo-political issues in important markets such as Russia and Hong Kong. Prada’s chief executive Patrizio Bertelli expressed confidence in the group’s medium term outlook and stressed that the company was making efforts to increase its efficiency, and that its stores healthy performance would help it to achieve satisfactory levels of growth and profitability.

Kim Kardashian Gets Naked Again!

From the recently launched Victoria’s Secret Swim campaign, it’s clear that bikinis will get tinier this year. Maybe that’s what Kim Kardashian had in mind when she posted an Instagram photo of herself in her itsy-bitsy, fur bikini. She added the caption “Baby, it’s cold outside,” which makes sense as she was standing in the middle of snowy Deer Valley, Utah. You have to hand it to her, though–her sultry facial expression shows no pain.

Looking very much like a seasoned swimsuit model, Kim braved the cold in the now trending “furkini” with even furrier boots. I don’t know how how many people will actually wear fur on the beach, but I have to admit one thing: whether or not Kim Kardashian plans to swim in her furkini is irrelevant, because she looks smoking hot in it.

What-to-Wear: Weekend to Work

Going out for drinks after a long week at work has become so routine that I don’t even have to ask my friends where and when to meet anymore. Though patting yourself on the back with a glass of wine after work is not unheard of, problems arise when my “work hard, play harder” motto from my university years decides to make a comeback. One minute I’m chugging wine, and the next thing I know my iPhone alarm is going off to the beat of my pounding headache.

Though I usually pride myself in my ability to drink and still function the next day, there have been one or two Mondays in my career where the weekend refused to be over. Bloodshot eyes, unwashed hair, and brain operating at 10% and hungover at best; otherwise known as completely unacceptable in the workplace. While I like to think that this stage in my life is behind me, I’m dedicating this week’s “What to wear?” to those of you who still have fully functioning livers.

Go from weekend to work with this easy, hangover-proofed outfit.

1. Versatile Top

Pair with a miniskirt on Friday and wear with a blazer or cardigan to the office on Monday. After one too many weekend to work situations, investing in a few tops that work both in and out of the office is one of the ways that I cut down on time spent getting ready. Trust me, your debauchery-induced headache will thank you when you don’t have to spend an hour digging through your closet on Monday. This top is by Weekday and is available here.

2. Black Skinny Jeans

Black skinny jeans are a wardrobe must for everyone, not just stylish party girls. Black-on-black is the easiest way to make an outfit seem more professional and the more rundown I feel on the inside, the more put together I want to look on the outside. My work environment is on the casual side but if your workplace has a stricter dress code, opt for trousers in the same color and a similar cut. Currently, I’m favoring my black skinny jeans from Cheap Monday. View their selection of dark denim here.

3. Cardigan

Even though I work in a dress code-free environment, I like to combat any residual hangovers by dressing more professionally. I’m generally known for being cynical, but in this case I believe in the power of positive thinking. Dress like a boss and feel like a boss––I’m past the years of letting churning insides effect my outfit or my work performance. The right cardigan can act as a comfier alternative to a blazer. This cardigan is by Monki and can be purchased here.

4. Pointy Flats

If I find myself in a weekend-to-work situation, there’s a 99% chance that I’m already running late. This means that I can’t be bothered to run in heels or deal with zipping up my ankle boots. I’m usually morally against flats, but this is one of those situations where I need something that’s trip-proof and easy to run in. This pair is by 3.1 Phillip Lim and can be bought here.

5. Don’t Forget!

A metallic hair cuff to tie up your bed head, a large tote bag to hold all of your hangover essentials, and a statement necklace to make this look more polished.

These tips aren’t just for party animals, but can be applied to anyone with a busy schedule. After working several jobs and experiencing hangovers at nearly all of them (sorry boss!), I’ve come to the realization that problem solving in dressing is just as important as being able to problem solve in the work place. Remember, flexibility is key so invest in clothing that’ll look stylish in any situation.

Happy hangover!

H&M and David Beckham Creating New Wardrobe For Men

David Beckham will be choosing his favorite pieces for H&M’s Spring 2015 line. Marc Forster, who will be shooting the campaign, said “Most of us are familiar with David’s innate sense of style and design. However, it was his acute eye for cinematic storytelling that struck me during the filming of this campaign. He doesn’t make H&M clothing look good, he makes it look great.” Marc is known for directing the films Monster’s Ball, Finding Neverland, Stranger than Fiction, The Kite Runner, Quantum of Solace and World War Z.

David Beckham said, “I am thrilled to continue and extend my collaboration with H&M by selecting my favourite pieces from this spring’s Modern Essentials collection. Each piece is a new wardrobe classic that will update every man’s spring wardrobe with great style.”

Key pieces include a linen bomber jacket, a white chalk-washed denim jacket, a car coat, a sharp linen blazer, a city-slick polo shirt and the perfect poplin white shirt.

Much Ado About…Selfies?

One undeniable fact about social media is that triumphs–and massive failures–are forever immortalized on the web. In the pre-Instagram years, public personalities could take refuge from prying eyes by closing their front doors. Now, even their private lives are laid bare via social media. The selfie age has given rise to a whole new level of scandal that is historic in both its ability to unveil secrets and in the degree of mayhem it causes. Here are some of this month’s most controversial selfies.

Miley Cyrus’ Cigar Selfie

Image from Instagram

Miley Cyrus made headlines earlier this month, when she posted a photo of herself puffing on a hand-rolled cigar on Instagram. This isn’t the first time a photo of her smoking has appeared on a social media platform. Considering she actually lit up on stage at the 2013 MTV EMAs, this doesn’t seem like such a big deal. However, this is Miley Cyrus we’re talking about––she’s always controversial.

Justin Bieber’s Response to Photoshop Rumors

Image from Instagram

Justin Bieber recently posted a shirtless photo of himself on instagram, mocking the rumors that his Calvin Klein ad was photoshopped. Prior to this selfie, there were rumors that the Calvin Klein image was manipulated to “enhance” Bieber’s attributes. However both the brand and his personal trainer denied these rumors. Now, Bieber himself has offered proof that the sizzling campaign image was 100% real.

Miss Lebanon’s Politically Charged Selfie

Image from Instagram

Just today Miss Lebanon, Sally Greige, got in trouble when she appeared in a selfie posted by Miss Israel, Doron Matalon. Because of tension between the two countries, Lebanese citizens are not allowed to fraternize with Israelis. Claiming that Matalon did it to sabotage her chances at the Miss Universe crown, Greige assured her government that it was unintentional on her part.

Kevin Hart Channels James Brown in Mind Blowing Performance on SNL

Kevin Hart challenged Eddie Murphy’s delirious impression of James Brown on Saturday Night Live the other night and blew Murphy away. Kevin is a dancing champion and had no issues moving like the king of funk. Kevin sung ‘Get Up (I Feel Like Being a) Sex Machine’ with nearly the entire cast of Saturday Night Live on stage.

The king of funk, James Brown, died on Christmas in 2006, but his fashion still influences celebrities’ stage garb today. He was known for his eccentric style that was loud, funky and extreme. James Brown was considered a style icon in the late 60s and into the 70s.

Watch Kevin Hart’s James Brown Impression:

The single ‘Sex Machine’ was released in 1970 and recorded, like many of Brown’s singles, in just two takes. The song clocks in at over ten minutes long and had Mods learning new dance moves all over London.

‘Girls’ Stars Take Over the Black Carpet

Season 4 was kicked off with the cast of HBO hit, Girls, taking to the black carpet in character appropriate attire. At the event, HBO also announced that the show will renew for a fifth season.

Jenn Rogien, the series costume designer, explained how styles are created to suit each character, “I live in Brooklyn, so I sort of do a lot of on-the-fly street-style research. I also look at street-style blogs, fashion magazines, retail catalogs.”

Jenn went on to say, “Certainly in the first couple of seasons when we were paying a lot of attention to reflecting how scattered Hannah was very much through the fit of her clothes. And sometimes that was reflected in a hem length: too short, too long, hit at an awkward place on the leg or we’d play with or drop the waist line to make them hit at not quite the right places, that literally just looks rumpled and off.”

A$AP Yam Continues to Influence Fashion in Death

The hip-hop executive that started the career of A$AP Rocky has died at the age of 26. Among his accomplishments of helping debut A$AP Rocky’s 2013 album “Long.Live.A$AP” at number one on the Billboard chart, A$AP Yam co-owned the A$AP Worldwide label and founded A$AP Mob, a collective of rappers, producers, video directors and fashion designers. The A$AP Mob has become one of the most influential groups in NYC youth culture by infusing Hip Hop and current fashion trends by working closely with designers like Jeremy Scott.

A$AP Mob keeps their fashion fresh both on and off the stage.

Yams, whose real name is Steven Rodriguez, grew up at the southern edge of Harlem and met A$AP Rocky in 2008 through mutual friends.

Yams admitted in 2013 to having issues with narcotics stating “I got to chill. It’s not a good look up there in the office. They’re not gonna have any faith.” He went on to explain he had choked on his own vomit at the 2013 Coachella music festival while high on Xanax and cough syrup.

Riff Raff is Dead

You can now take Riff Raff to prom for just $28,000. We can only suspect this would mean prom photos that would be worth more than a million words and a matching his-and-her prom outfit that would make Katy Perry jealous. But how much more can a man sell out? Does he actually care enough about high school popularity and a few grand to exploit himself like this? Or is it an elaborate joke? Either way, we are still fascinated and deeply in love with the legend, Jody Highroller aka: Katy Perry’s date to the 2014 MTV VMAs.

Riff Raff Making Money in Los Angeles

Riff Raff is a fashionista in his own right, but his neon icon manifesto is a trend that has died and the all-over-print is no longer on it’s way up. Put the neon aside and you can still see Riff Raff’s relevance in fashion with his head-to-toe monochromatic outfits and ironic ‘Versace’ everything. If you are going to take fashion tips from Riff Raff, try to take everything with a grain of salt because looking like you are perpetually on spring break isn’t what made him relevant––it’s his ‘I-don’t-give-a-$h!t’ attitude that has the world baited.

It isn’t uncommon to take fashion advice from a personality or a pseudo-celebrity who has invented a character. In the past, Tupac Shakur was originally in Digital Underground which, like many late 1980s hip hop groups, was much more playful and fun than Tupac’s later alter ego: a tough gangster from the streets of Los Angeles. Before his reinvention, hip hop fashion was colorful like most things from the 80s. After Tupac released 2pacalypse Now, however, the world’s outlook on rap, and it’s fashion, changed forever.

Tupac in his Digital Underground days.

But to everyone’s disbelief, Tupac was a caricature of a hard African American gangster who only became a reality in later years. Much in the same way Riff Raff was originally a character of an excess fueled, rap superstar who is now a real person. Undeniably he has influenced art and fashion, see Harmony Korine’s Spring Breakers.

Riff Raff Making Money With Friend

Just because Riff Raff’s influence on the fashion world is coming to an end, doesn’t mean he himself has become irrelevant. In fact, he is now cementing himself in the annals of comedic excess celebrity with the likes of 2 Chainz and Floyd Mayweather.
