Dolce and Gabbana Infuriate Masses With Anti-IVF Statements

At this year’s Milan Fashion Week, Dolce and Gabbana unveiled a collection that focused on motherhood, with models bearing an obvious baby bump or plump little bunches of joy in their arms. Even North West, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s daughter, sat in the front row for the event. The show was sweet and tender, until designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana opened their mouths.

“We oppose gay adoptions. The only family is the traditional one. … No chemical offsprings and rented uterus: life has a natural flow, there are things that should not be changed,” the designer duo explained to Panorama, an Italian publication, which was translated by The Telegraph. They went on to say that the collection was called “Viva La Mamma” and that “children of chemistry [are] synthetic children. Rented uterus, semen chosen from a catalog.”

These extreme claims have Elton John in an uproar. John posted on Instagram after word on the designers anti-invitro fertilization stance with a photo of his two twin sons that were born utilizing IVF, with a caption that read, “How dare you refer to my beautiful children as ‘synthetic’. And shame on you for wagging your judgemental little fingers at IVF - a miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay, to fulfil their dream of having children. Your archaic thinking is out of step with the times, just like your fashions. I shall never wear Dolce and Gabbana ever again. #BoycottDolceGabbana”

This then sparked an enclave of anti-D&G celebrities such as Ricky Martin, Courtney Love, and Today show co-host Al Roker. This speed bump isn’t unfamiliar to the ex-lovers Dolce and Gabbana, who were faced with racism accusations for sending models on the runway wearing Mammy earrings in 2012.
